Lucas Sargentelli (1989)

 

É artista e vive e trabalha no Rio de Janeiro. Ocupou seus dias na residência com o desenvolvimento de um projeto que já havia concebido anteriormente: uma pesquisa sobre seu avô, Oswaldo Sargentelli, uma personalidade popular e folclórica do universo do samba, sempre às voltas com mulatas em shows dançantes na tevê. Ao invés de aprofundar o aspecto narrativo da história familiar, Lucas interessou-se antes pela estética da representação envolvendo essa figura pública, explorando as zonas de tensão sociais e os valores midiáticos daquela época (anos 1970-80) em oposição ao presente. Centenas de fotografias de baixa resolução tiradas da internet, mostrando seu avô, jornais de época e dançarinas, foram usadas por ele para compor uma colagem de grande escala cobrindo todas as paredes de seu ateliê. Junto a essa instalação, o artista apresentou ainda uma colagem sonora contendo gravações originais das músicas de Sargentelli, bem como entrevistas, apresentações, etc. Além desse projeto, Lucas desenvolveu também (em colaboração com Rafael Medeiros) uma de suas “caminhadas silenciosas”, ao longo de trajetos complexos propostos aos participantes, que usaram ainda plugues de ouvido a fim de ter cortado todo o contato com o ambiente exterior.       

 

Is an artist who lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. He devoted his time in the residency to the development of a project that he had previously designed: a survey of his grandfather, Oswaldo Sargentelli, a popular and folk character of the samba scene, who used to host a TV show where he was always accompanied by gorgeous “mulatas” (afro-brazilian girls). Rather than deepen the narrative aspect of the family history, Lucas was more interested in the aesthetics of representation involving this public figure, exploring the social areas of tension and media values ​​of that time (1970-80 years) as opposed to the present. Photographs of hundreds of low resolution taken from the internet, showing his grandfather, the dancers and newspapers from that time, were used by him to compose a large-scale collage covering all the walls of his studio. Next to his installation, the artist would also present a sound collage containing original recordings of Sargentelli’s music and interviews, presentations, etc. In addition to this project, Lucas also developed (in collaboration with Rafael Medeiros) one of his "silent walks" that went along complex paths, and in which the residents / performers also had to use ear plugs to cut all contact with the surrounding environment.
