Anuta Skrypnychenko (Kyiv)

 

É uma artista ucraniana que vive e trabalha em Toronto, no Canadá. Realizou diversos experimentos com materiais encontrados, como objetos domésticos e elementos naturais, criando estranhas e fascinantes esculturas efêmeras. Sua principal investigação, em torno da situação climática excepcional — a maior seca na história recente da região — foi progressivamente transformando-se em uma ode à chuva e tomou a forma de uma instalação na lavanderia da casa. Objetos da casa foram cuidadosamente arranjados em gradações de azul e branco, sugerindo assim a presença de nuvens, água e gelo; enquanto esculturas de gelo, feitas a partir de fôrmas de cobre, representavam um imaginário marinho. Os residentes foram ainda convidados a penetrar nesse jardim de águas artificiais, ao acompanhar de perto a lavagem e a secagem de suas próprias roupas, embalados pelo som repetitivo de várias máquinas de lavar em funcionamento.

 

Is an Ukrainian artist who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. She made several experiments with found materials, such as household objects and elements from the natural surronundigs, creating strange and fascinating ephemeral sculptures. Her main research, around the exceptional climatic conditions - the worst drought in the history of Brazil - gradually turned into an ode to the rain taking the form of an installation in the laundry room of the house. Household objects were carefully arranged in blue and white gradations, thus suggesting the presence of clouds, water and ice; while ice sculptures, made from copper molds, represented a marine imagery. Residents were also invited to enter this garden of artificial waters, following the washing and drying of their own clothes, packed by the repetitive sound of several washing machines in operation.
